April 14 -

Esther 8:1-5
1 That same day King Xerxes gave Queen Esther the estate of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came into the presence of the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.
2 The king took off his signet ring, which he had reclaimed from Haman, and presented it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed him over Haman’s estate.
3 Esther again pleaded with the king, falling at his feet and weeping. She begged him to put an end to the evil plan of Haman the Agagite, which he had devised against the Jews.
4 Then the king extended the gold scepter to Esther and she arose and stood before him.
5 “If it pleases the king,” she said, “and if he regards me with favor and thinks it the right thing to do, and if he is pleased with me, let an order be written overruling the dispatches that Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, devised and wrote to destroy the Jews in all the king’s provinces.

The story ended with a new order from the king, allowing the Jews to defend themselves. God made it so that the people of Persia feared the Jews. The Jews were originally made to face a day of massacre, but their enemies were killed instead. Mordecai was honoured, and he sat in Haman's place of prestige.
Since the creation of the world, in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, bringing good to His people and glorifying His own name.

I shall not waver, In Christ my faith stands.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God;
Thank-You Lord for giving me one of the biggest challenges in life - being a woman, and giving me many models to follow such as Esther.
Please forgive me, Lord, for unlike Esther, I bear many traits that are far from those of Your fruit. Even in prayers, I do not exhibit humility and selflessness that Esther did.
Help me, Lord, to train my heart such that I bear Your fruit and reflect You in my mannerisms.
Strengthen my relationship with You so that I may grow firmly rooted like trees by the streams.
In the name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen

*Personal reflection*
1. Remarkable woman
I wonder what is it that Esther has that makes everyone favour her.
Yes, she is beautiful in form but there’s much more to it.
What traits made her such a remarkable woman?
Was it gentleness? Patience? Lovingness? Humility? Selflessness?

2. Begging & prayers
With the kind of influence Esther had, she need not beg the king. She could’ve simply requested for anything and the king would’ve given to her (even up to half the country).
Yet she begged with tears, and she did not beg like a child who begs to escape punishment; she said, “If it pleases the king, and if he regards me with favor and thinks it the right thing to do, and if he is pleased with me”

Is this not the way we should beg God in our prayers?
Jesus prayed, “not my will by Yours be done”.
In the parable of the unjust judge, we are told to pray persistently like the woman who begged the judge.
In our prayers, it shouldn’t be us dumping everything we want for on God. Instead, we beg Him and remember, at the same time, that He has the power to answer our prayers but it is entirely up to His will.

In the Old Testament, He answered the prayers of those He favoured.
Even then, like in the case of King Josiah who wished not for calamity to fall on the Israelites, God favoured him but still made calamity fall - as punishment - after he had passed on.

In the same Testament, the prayers of those who He did not favour were not answered, like in the cases of the many kings who never sought His counsel and favour.

in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, bringing good to His people and glorifying His own name.

Amen!
We were created to reflect God’s glory,
therefore those who testify His goodness will forever be in His favor!
Whereas those who despise God will face His wrath..
Let us be faithful in living out God’s goodness so that we’re not just the ones experiencing His grace and mercy but all others can receive His love too!

Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your unfailing love..
You’ve reminded me that even in tough times,
Your promises are here to stay..
Hence I pray for a faithful heart, to continue trusting in Your deliverance.
Just like that verse has written, You work for all those who love You..
And I know that You’re faithful in working in my life too..
Help me to continue to live out the purpose of my life..
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
He is the anchor of my soul ⚓️

With His faithfulness, we can trust our whole life onto His hands.
Even in Joseph's slavery, he remained faithful to God knowing for as long as he trust in His deliverance, he'll remain safe.
God will always be with people who put Him first in their heart.
Through these endurance, faithfulness and patience that Joseph has shown, he was promised a "success" in the end.

For as long as we hold on to God, we'll never lose out as His children.
This promise itself is more than enough for us to keep going for His purposes.

Dear God,
Thank You Jesus, for giving us beautiful promises that comes in as comfort all the time...
Lord, for the plans You have for us are not to harm but to prosper us. Therefore let us hold on to this truth no matter how difficult our circumstances are getting...
We have Your promises as protections, hope and strength.
We'll never lose out as long as we don't let go of You.
Let us never ever let go of You no matter how much our circumstances are changing...
In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
