January 13 -

Postby Szerong » Fri Jan 12, 2018 11:45 pm

Hebrews 1:1-2
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

The expectations about a Messiah changed throughout Israel’s history. At first the anointed one was seen as a king who descended from David and ruled over Israel.
Then God’s people longed for an ideal kingly Messiah, also of David’s line, who would rule justly and establish a meaningful time of peace. This king would be a wonderful counselor and the true representative of almighty God.
Later, after the release from exile, the Medo-Persian rulers would not allow Zerubbabel, the prince descended from David, to be king. Instead they chose the high priest Joshua to be Israel’s leader. So then the concept of two anointed ones became the norm.
Another stage began after the Old Testament Scriptures were complete. When Rome took over Palestine, the people mistakenly began to expect the messiah-king to militarily defeat their Roman oppressors.
Into this situation Jesus of Nazareth arrived. And he fulfilled all the expectations from the Old Testament. Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament law, was the true heir of David, became the suffering servant of Isaiah 42-53, and proved to be our chief prophet, only high priest, and eternal king.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God;
Thank-You Lord for allowing me to be born in an era whereby I can converse and communicate directly with You, anytime, anywhere.
Please forgive me, Lord, for I still pray so little despite having the freedom to pray to You as and when.
Help me, Lord! Help me to revere You so much that I won't feel right without praying to You!
In the name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen

*Personal reflection*
In the past, the prophets were used as a medium for communication with God.

Now, we have Christ who intercedes with us and through Whom we can communicate directly with God.

Now, we no longer need people to convey our messages and can speak to God in private, anytime, anywhere - instead of having to wait for an appointed time and way to be spoken to or to speak to Him.

This also means that, now that we can communicate with God anytime and anywhere, we need to be more responsible for the use of our time and our attitudes towards God.
Do we still wait until we are at 'holy ground' before praying to God?
Do we still wait until something has gone wrong before praying to God?

A Hope that was given to us...
Can you imagine communicating to God without Jesus and the Holy spirit? We can't see God, there's no Jesus as an example to follow and there is no Holy spirit to guide us.

Romans 3:23
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." It tells us that all people have sinned and are therefore separated from God.
With story after story in the bible, we begin to see that evil has stained us all.
Paul sums up our desperate situation, saying;
Ephesian 2:12
"Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world."

Then God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins on the cross so that we can possess eternal life.
Jesus came as a Hope.
"Hope for the future, that we will be redeemed. Hope for the present, that we are not alone, but are loved and have purpose. Hope even over the past, that our failures are not greater than God’s power to transform."
Our Hope is alive!
It’s living because Jesus is alive and offers to transform our hearts, minds, and actions daily.

Are we ready for Jesus to transform us?

Dear God,
Thank You for giving us the opportunity to experience Your love through Jesus.
We can never gauge Your love, because they are higher than the sky and deeper than the ocean...
Where sin runs deep, Your love runs deeper!
Lord let us never take Your grace and mercy for granted, instead transform these sins and weaknesses into Your Glory.
Lord as we yearn to live a life that's pleasing in Your eyes, may Your spirit continue guiding us in this narrow path and may we continue to experience Your greatness and uncover ourselves in You as we grow...
In Jesus' most precious name I pray, Amen.

Whether in the past, the old or the new times, now, God is always revealing His revelation.
God always speaks, and I think when He speaks... it is to reveal Himself, His character, His words, and deeds to us...
And Jesus is the appointed one to reveal God to us, which having being appointed, has a special meaning and shows some importance.

I pray for the heart of my eyes to look at Jesus...
Hoping in Jesus encompasses the hope for life after death, the joy during dark times, the love, the grace.
How great it is that I can hope in someone that holds so so much?
Lord, I'll find my comfort and security in this hope...

Communication with Father = His blessings and love.

Long long before this world is created,
God has a lovely relationship with His Son.
And because He loves us,
He wants to give us with the Joy the Trinity is enjoying.
Thus, we are created.
However sinful are we,
Through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are cleansed.
and also through Him,
He talks to us.

How so?
Jesus Christ came into this world and taught us how to live as a Christian.
and by how we are supposed to live,
those ways are the ways we communicate with God.
Discerning right and wrong,
being righteous and evil,
studying His words and praying frequently,
dwell in His presence and spread the gospel,
dont stop sharing and believe in His providence,
all of these are what Christ have taught us.
Then we think about it,
when doing all these,
have not His Spirit lead and tell us what to do?
Like in prayers, is not the Spirit leading? if not how we know what to pray?
Like in deciding what is right or wrong, is not His Spirit guiding us in His way of discernment?
Like in devoting our time to study His words, is not His Spirit talking to us, giving us visions and flood words into us?
Like in sharing, is it not Him guiding us, sometimes sharing what we didn't even thought we would say?

The Almighty God who created the whole universe came to love us, in a small earth.
How great is He who prioritize us,
yet we did not even put a single notice on Him,
and some even reject Him.
Not now that He speaks to us directly,
probably our mind and heart is too clogged up with this world that we couldn't hear Him,
But His way of speaking to us is many,
and we have to be sensitive to His voice.
His words will be in our mind,
His Spirit will guide us.
We are given a second chance of Salvation,
and in this way is the way He will guide us.
And now we pray to our Father in Christ Jesus's Name, through His Spirit that works in us.
I shall not waver, In Christ my faith stands.

God can speak to us in many ways and sometimes even in ways we didn't know possible! If we truly seek Him, we would know where to look. Understanding our Father in Heaven more through the bible and sermon will also help us in looking for channels in which He uses to speak to us.

However most importantly is that we could also, through our testimony, become a vessel for others to hear what God may want to speak to them about. A willing and obedient heart can allow God to speak through us, and perhaps bring someone closer to God as a result..

Amen!
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

We always have a CHOICE to SMILE.

Christ died on the cross for us and reconciled us with the Lord.
We are now able to communicate with our Lord thru His Name, anywhere, anytime.

" if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. "

Anything. Will.
Do we understand how big that word is?
And just how big His love and grace for us?

Lord, help me to realign my heart towards You.
Knowing that we often ask only for our worldly desires, I pray that I would re-adjust towards eternal value.
To pray more for others, to pray more for personal growth and change, and to do things that please You, my Lord.
In Jesus' precious name I pray, Amen.

In the past, prophets speak to believers about God’s words..
Today, we ourselves read the Bible to know His words..
Different ways but it is faith which leads us to believe in Him!
And compared to the past, we can directly speak to God through Jesus who intercedes for us..
This generation of Christians are so blessed..
That we can approach God without having to go through hassles of sacrificing animals as offerings etc..

Oh Lord,
Thank you for choosing me to be Your blessed child!
I pray that whenever You want to speak to me be it through any means,
my ears will always be ready to hear,
and my heart will always be ready to receive!
Thank You Lord, for I’m able to connect to You directly all because of Christ!
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
He is the anchor of my soul ⚓️

God has his own plans, beyond our understanding.
He does not show it the way we humans want it to be.
But when we truly seek wisdom from God, he will give us!
So let us pray for wisdom, to be able to see his plans for us,
and prepare ourselves so that he may use us.

Really thankful that we now have Jesus!
We can now communicate with God through a simple prayer, no longer having to go through certain ceremonies, rituals, etc.
The amount of effort people in the past have to put to seek God, wow..
Do we still put in the same amount of effort to seek God now? Or do we passively wait for God to seek us?
Although different ways, but hearts can remain the same.

Jesus was given to us by God,
We dont deserve to appoint who we want to lead us or what we expect of our King..
Either ways, God will provide what we need, like how He sent Jesus to the people then.
We can always hope in Him that He will establish what we need.
Thankful that we have Jesus and we can have hope because of Jesus.

In the past, only through the priest and going through different types of rituals so that we are able to seek God.
Now we can seek God anytime we want! What privilege is given to us but are we really using this gift to us?
At our own times, did we talk to God, did we seek Him in our times of trouble, did we celebrate our joy with Him, or seek in and stay in His presence?
A nudge to myself to be constantly reminded that I should seek Him in any circumstances.

Father,
I pray that You give me a heart to long for you.
I'm sorry that a lot of times I would forget to include You in my own plans,
But nevertheless, You still bless me.
I pray for a heart that desire more of You..
In Jesus name i pray, Amen
By Faith, through Grace.

"God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance"

"Everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life"

Reflection:

God has created the universe through His Son. And God also promised to leave every inheritance for Him.

Jesus is the grapevine and we were merely the branches. Those who remain in Him and Him in us, will produce fruit. However those who don't remain in Him, will eventually not bear any fruit and hence chopped off.

Can we see, the body working together? The branch that does not produce fruit is a branch that cause the tree to not grow and may bring down the efficiency of the tree. This kind of body should be cut off.

Shouldn't we hope that we are in Him daily? For God is the Gardener. Once He cuts us off from His vine, there is no way of undoing it. However, if we the branches and the vine produces fruit, we bring joy to the Gardener! Wouldn't it mean that we will be patiently taken care with plenty of love too?
